'Making Something Happen' - Volunteering in the Arts. Case Studies of Arts Volunteer, 2009

Carrowshee Park / Sylvan Hill Community Association (Carrosyl) represents an area of 226 homes on the edge of Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh, just 11 miles from the border.

Up 4 Arts gave local residents the chance to try new art forms and consider arts activities they might like to pursue further. The day was organised by the Management Committee of Carrosyl with the assistance of ‘Another Way In’ and local arts practitioners volunteered their time and talents. Within a few miles radius of Lisnaskea, the talents were numerous and varied; great thanks is due to all volunteers who willingly shared their skills: crochet, flower arranging, set/ceili, dance, Indian dance and costumes, Hawaiian dance, knitting, scrap booking, card making, drama, quilting, glass etching, spray painting and jewellery making.

The ‘Making Something Happen’ case studies give you a flavour of the joy and benefits arts volunteering has brought to five local arts practitioners who volunteered to be tutors / facilitators at the Up4Arts Day, 25th July 2009.
