All arts events are circulated through our e-newsletter (over 2000 subscribers) in the issue that appears after it has been submitted. It is also circulated in the Voluntary Arts Network e-newsletter. Just click ADD AN EVENT and fill in the form! - Add an Event - the adverts are placed on our website searchable by area and artform. They also appear in our e-newsletter circulated to over 2000 voluntary arts-friendly recipients each Friday. This service is currently FREE.
- Advertise through local outlets ie local press - remember to find out who deals with arts and when their deadline is for receiving press releases; local council arts offices often have artslisting publications (but remember to contact them well in advance of the date)
- NI arts listing - www.culturenorthernireland.org - send them through the details of your events
- Check whether your local authority arts service has a print / e-mail bulletin of what's on in the arts in your area.
A Note About Voluntary Arts Events The Group Survey of our State of the Sector research (Northern Ireland: 2003) found that 88% of groups engage in performances, exhibitions or other public events. In total, groups reported taking part in or staging 1,540 public events. Audience figures are difficult to calculate. However, 31 groups which staged events not involving others reported a total audience of 39,000 people, or 1,250 per group per year. By extrapolation, if 88% of all recorded groups staged events which attracted similar audiences, then the sector would serve audiences of 1 million a year. However, given that the drama sector alone plays to annual audiences of 250,000 and that events involving more than one arts group, such as carnivals, festivals, competitions, feis and marching bands, attract audiences of thousands, this is likely to be a hugely conservative estimate… |
