Making Something Happen

Voluntary Arts Ireland takes a lead role in developing dynamic ways of voluntary arts participation that enable all involved to create meaningful, transformative opportunities for themselves and their communities (whether geographical or communities of interest). This includes project work, advocacy/lobbying and research.

The Young Arts Co-operative project is about giving young people a voice to enable them to access all areas of the arts. Through it, Voluntary Arts Ireland is helping young people set up their own Co-operatives - 100% youth-led, arts information and support organisations. More information (If you are on facebook you can be their friend directly at www.facebook.com/youngartscooperative

The 'Another Way In' project builds on the voluntary basis of local arts and crafts organisation. It puts taking part in this way in the spotlight - helps groups increase their volunteer base - helps arts and crafts in local communities flourish. It is one element of the DSD / DGCRA funded “Volunteering in Sports, Arts and Faith Based Organisations' – and promotes volunteering in the arts in Fermanagh, Sligo and Donegal. Most recent event Up4Arts, Ballyshannon, 22 May 2010. More information (and the 'Making Something Happen' Case Studies).

Giving the Voluntary Arts Sector a Voice: Voluntary Arts Ireland supports all avenues to creative participation and we know that the majority of those who take part do so through the medium of locally based arts or craft initiatives. Read about our policy development work (NI and RoI) to improve the environment for everyone who takes part. See also our research reports.
